Activists in Homel interrogated over walk on March 23

Journalist Tatsyana Bublikava and human rights activist Anatol Paplauny were interrogated by the police over their part in a historical sight-seeing walk devoted to 90 years of Belarus's first declaration of independence.  The sight-seeing tour took place on March 23 when pro-democracy activists walked on a street in Homel with baloons and white-red-white bands. They visited the sites associated with the life of Paluta Badunova, an activist of the Belarusian People's Republic. In early April, several people were summoned to the police and charged with staging an unauthorized rally.

Bublikava told the police that she was on an editorial assignment. However, she was recognized as a violator and faced with administrative charges. Paplauny found himself in the similar situation. He was proposed to make a written plea that he will never take part in similar event, but the human rights activist refused, reports Belapan.
