Unprocessed amber can be bought in a shope in Pinsk, Brest region. In the Confiscated Goods department, valuable stones are lying among other household items. One kilo of small-size amber is Br150,000 ($50), while one kilo of egg-size amber is sold for Br200,000 ($70).
The origin of amber is explained very easily. Several months ago, border guards in Pinsk sezied a large batch of amber at the border with Ukraine. A local court ruled to sell the sezied amber and to deposit the money to the local ditrict budget account.
