Americans auction property of their Embassy

According to the website of “Belarusian Partisan”, the US Embassy organized an auction in Minsk. The diplomatic mission has sold its movables. Different household devices including coffe-makers, heaters, furniture, etc. were sold. The auction was rather unusual for Belarusians – it was a closed auction. Everyone who wanted to buy something had to write their price on a sheet of paper. People were confused because they were not even told the average cost of things. The person whose price was highest won the auction.

According to “Belarusian partisan”, the sale may be explained in two ways. The Americans could decide to use the break in their activities in order to organize repairs in their Embassy or they do not seem to believe in the possibility to return their diplomats in the near future. Anyway, it can only mean that Washington is not going to make concessions to the Belarusian regime and that it does not hope for a quick regulation of the conflict with the official Minsk.
