Anatol Lyabedzka calls for solidarity with Poles

United Civic Party leader Anatol Lyabedzka said in a conversation with the European Radio for Belarus that people should express solidarity with the members of the unregistered Union of Poles. Anatol Lyabedzka: “When a trial goes in a half-empty room, this shows, excuse me, the level of solidarity. When 5-7 people stand up for an action of solidarity, it means we lack solidaroty. People should provide their shoulders, because today it is hard for them and tomorrow it will be hard for us. As for other politicians, well, everyone will respond for himself”.

Yesterday, the police detained over 40 activists with the Union of Poles, while the leadership of the union was sentenced to arrest or huge fines. Anatol Lyabedzka was one of those detained, beaten and held for six hours in a police station. He is facing charges of having staged an unauthorized street action.
