Andrej Aramnau caught drunk driving and using drugs

The winner of the Olympics in Beijing has been arrested for drunk driving for the third time, and there have been traces of cannabis in his doping-test after the European Championship. Traffic policemen once again stopped the weight-lifter from Barysau when he was driving under the influence. Last year the sportsman had been deprived from his driver's licence. However, according to the newspaper "Pressball", he did drove an Audi-TT "being under the influence of alcohol" on August 2.

The sportsman refused from medical examination. On September 9 the case was transferred to the Public Prosecutor who will pass it further to the court.

As it was informed earlier, Aramnau had also been caught using drugs. The same "Pressball" informed with a reference to the "Polish Barbell" that there had been traces of cannabis in Aramnau's doping-test taken after the European Championship on weight-lifting.

Cannabis is forbidden by sports authorities only within the period of a tournament, so the Belarusian weight-lifter can avoid sanctions on cannabis case. However, criminal responsibility for repeated drunk driving can end in 6 months of arrest or 2 years of correctional work. The sportsman can miss the Olympics-2012 in London in case of the latter.
