Bank deposits surge

Individuals’ bank deposits increased by 3,360 billion rubels, or 25.4 percent, in the first seven months to exceed 16,620 billion rubels, BelaPAN reported with reference to the press office of the National Bank of Belarus. 

In July, the deposits reportedly rose by 393.3 billion rubels, or 2.4 percent. In particular, deposits in the Belarusian rubel increased by 204.3 billion rubels, or three percent, to exceed seven trillion rubels and foreign currency deposits by $52.4 million, or 1.6 percent, to more than $3,360 million.
