Belarus considers South Ossetia, Abkhazia as parts of Georgia
Belarus foreign ministry has formally recognized Georgia's rights for the territories of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, after a statement made by Alexander Lukashevich, a deputy head of the consular department at the foreign ministry of Belarus. Lukashevich commented on some recent fines to Belarus nationals who visited Abkhazia. The Belarus official noted that penetration into those republics from the Russian territory is banned by the Georgian authorities and penalized in accordance with Georgia's Penal Code.
Lukashevich insistingly recommended that Belarus citizens take into account these provisions of the Gerogian laws when planning their trips to Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
