Belarus to cut down on Russian gas consumption thanks to its NPP
Belarus may cut down on the consumption of Russian gas noticeably with the help of the construction of a nuclear power plant on its territory, thinks the vice president of Russian “Atomstroiexport” Alexander Gluhov.
According to him, it will be possible on condition that all energy produced at the first Belarusian NPP and other generating supplies provides domestic demands.
RIA “Novosti” reminds that “Atomstroiexport” is the general contractor that will build the nuclear power plant in Belarus. Alexander Gluhov notes that “the Russian NPP project chosen by… Belarusian colleagues… corresponds to all international demands and safety standards”.
By the way, the Belarusian government asked Russia for a $9 billion credit yesterday. It is necessary to build the NPP.
