Belarus does not receive money from European Neighbourhood Policy
The European Commission divided 5.7 billion euro between its eastern and southern neighbours on March 2. The biggest sums were allocated to Morocco and Ukraine – 580 and 470 million euro respectively. Georgia got 180 millions, Armenia – 157, Tunis – 240 and well-to-do Israel – 6 million euro. The decision concerning Belarus has been postponed, informs a website “Us”. The European Commission makes no secret that the absence of European assistance to Belarus is caused by political issues. An anonymous expert of the European Commission has given an interview to the PAP and said that the decision will depend on the situation connected with two Unions of Poles in Belarus – the unrecognized union headed by Anzhalika Borys and the official one headed by Stanislau Syamahska.
If there is no improvement, the European Union will be likely to turn on the red light for financing of Minsk, claimed the European Commission’s expert. The official also noted that the EC could stop allocating money at any moment if something is wrong and it is applicable to any neighboring country.
Let us remind you that the European Neighbourhood Policy includes neighbouring states of the European Union. Among them are Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunis and the Palestinian autonomy.
