Belarus gays to stage picket near Russian embassy in Minsk
Members of the Belarusian initiative for sexual and gender equality have filed requests with the Minsk City Hall, seeking permission to stage a picket in front of the Russian embassy in Minsk, reports gayby.org.
The picket is scheduled to take place on October 27. The Belarusian gays "want to express their concern over the human rights violations in Russia, including the unjustified bans on street actions by gays in Moscow over the past several years, detention and abuse of gays in Russia's night clubs", the statement reads.
During the picket, participants plan to pass a statement to Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin. They pledged to ensure safety and public order during the event.
