Belarus government prepares $150mn more for Gazprom
Beltransgaz must pay Gazprom's gas bills not later than the 23d day of the consecutive month, Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov said in a statement. Last week Russia's gas monopoly Gazprom said it would cut gas Belarus supplies because this country had refused to pay its gas bills for the past six months on time.
Facing the threat, the Belarus government cleared in several installments the six-months debt of $456.16 million. Currently, the Russian company counts that Belarus will be paying its gas bills in full and on time.
Belarus will have to pay a full amount of $100 per 1000 cubic meters from now on, according to the deal early this year.
According to Belarus first vice prime minister Uladzimir Siamashka, on August 23 the government will have to pay around $150 million for the gas supplied in July, reports Belarus Partisan.
