Belarus national suspected of stealing 130 mn credit card numbers in US

The US Department of Justice has announed about the biggest theft of credit card numbers in the history of the country. Criminals managed to obtain 130 million credit card numbers throught the payment systems of several corporations, reports Reurters. Miami resident Albert Gonsalez, two Russian nationals as well as a Belarusian, a Ukrainian, Chinese and Estonian residents are suspected of this theft. It is assumed that the hackers sold the obtained credit card numbers to the interested parties and also withdrew money using the stolen card numbers, reports the Russian TV channel Vesti. The hackers are facing up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

"This is the largest hacking operation associated with the theft of personal data that was ever investigated", the US Department of Justice said.
