Belarus, Russia reach draft deal over nuclear power plant
Moscow and Minsk have approved a draft text of an agreement on the construction of the first Belarusian nuclear power plant, according to the press office of the Russian monopoly Atomstroiexport.
The document was agreed upon on August 7 in Minsk during a meeting of experts and officials from the two countries. Intergovernmental consultations in Russia and Belarus are expected to follow up the first step.
The partners also signed a plan of joint actions on the nuclear power plant project to be implemented by the end of 2009.
In the framework of the plan, a joint meeting is going to take place soon in St Petersburg, Russia to continue consultations on the project.
