Belarus surprised at cancellation of invitation to Munich conference
The press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andrei Savinyh has informed BelaPAN that the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is surprised
at the decision of the steering committee of the Munich Security Conference to cancel the invitation sent to the Foreign Minister of Belarus Syarhei Martynau.
As it was informed earlier, the annual Munich Security Conference is planned for February 4-6. The Chairman of the Conference Wolfgang Ischinger has decided not to invite Martynau “in protest against the human rights situation in an authoritarian state”.
The invitation was sent to the head of Belarusian diplomats before the election of December 19 and the intensification of repressions directed against the opposition has become a reason for its cancellation.
