Belarusian contract soldier who escaped to Canada is found in Russia
A former contract soldier who escaped to Canada in 1999 is being kept at Baranavichy confinement cell.
He has given himself up recently. It turned out that the soldier had been deported from Canada to Russia in 2003. He was living at his parents’ in Murmansk Region.
Thanks to the Russian Federation police troops he was found even there.
According to the head investigator of Baranavichy Garrison Office of Public prosecutor captain Nazdryn, the fact that the soldier gave himself up will be taken into account. The deserter risks to be sentenced to a 2-7 years term of imprisonment.
