Belarusian fencer becomes champion of Europe

A 23-year-old Belarusian fencer Alyaksandr Buikevich has become champion of Europe. The last competition before the coming Olympics-2008 in Beijing took place in Kiev.
The Belarusian defeated a Russian Alyaksei Yakimenka in the final duel – 15:11.

There were three more Belarusian fencers taking part in the single tournament of the European championship. Valery Pryemka was 27th, Dzmitry Lapkes – 35th and Alyaksei Ramanovich – 38th out of 55 participants.

A 21-year-old Natallya Havenchyk was 35th out of 46 participants of the women’s tournament.
