Benita Ferrero-Waldner to meet Alyaksandr Lukashenka in Minsk

Benita Ferrero-Waldner arrived in Minsk on Sunday evening. The European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy is going to meet Alyaksandr Lukashenka and the Minister of Foreign Affaires Syarhei Martynau as well as opposition and civil activists.
BelaPAN reports that Ferrero-Waldner will describe the ways of development of relations of the EU and Belarus in the future when the authorities make positive steps towards democracy, respect for human rights and independent mass media.

In particular, the Commissioner is going to discuss the programme “Eastern Partnership” and its potential for Belarus.

Ferrero-Waldner is expected to announce that 10 million euro will be allocated to Belarus according to the programme of foodstuffs quality improvement.
