Bishkek hopes that Bakiyev’s issue will not make Belarus and Kyrgyzstan to quarrel
"The peoples of Belarus and Kyrgyzstan will get over the problem of Kurmanbek Bakiyev and it will not affect our relations in any way”, - has claimed the head of the administration of the provisional government Edil Baisalov in an interview with BelaPAN. He has commented on Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s statement this way. Let us remind you that the Belarusian President claimed to Reuters that he was not going to extradite Bakiyev to the new Kyrgyz government on May 4.
According to Bailasau, this is the Belarusian government’s right not to extradite Bakiyev. However, the Kyrgyz authorities claim that they consider Bakiyev to be a dictator who usurped the power and made the whole world watch how peaceful demonstrators were being shot at.
Bailasau noted that Kyrgyzstan respected Belarus’ sovereign right to allow third parties to stay on its territory. “However, we expect that the hospitality of the Belarusian people will not be abused and no threat to the stability and restoration of political and social-economic life of Kyrgyzstan will come from Belarus”, he stressed.
