Brest region governor admits there were falsifications during 2006 elections

The Head of Brest region executive committee Kanstantsin Sumar recalled the previous presidential electoral campaign in Belarus at his press-conference, and made a sensational statement. According to web-site of "Viasna", Sumar claimed that so many people had supported Aliaksandr Lukashenka in 2006 in the Brest region that the authorities had to decrease the number of those who had voted for him by 16 thousand.

In fact, the Head of the regional executive committee confirmed that the results of the 2006 presidential elections in Brest region had been fabricated. Previously, it was only Aliaksandr Lukashenka himself who mentioned this topic when talking to journalists.
