Bush promises Milinkevich to attend to release of Belarusian political prisoners
The President of the United States of America George Bush met Alyaksandr Milinkevich, the leader of the civil movement “For Freedom” in Prague yesterday.
It was an informal meeting. Bush was interested in the political situation and problems with human rights violation in our country. The US president “promised to support democratic processes in Belarus, protect human rights and to strive for release of political prisoners”.
Let us remind you that Alyksandr Milinkevich took part in the international conference “Democracy and security” on June 5-6. The conference was held on the eve of the G-8 summit and dedicated to support of democratization processes in countries with authoritarian and totalitarian regimes.
A special “Prague document” was adopted after the conference. Milinkevich was invited to Prague by Vaclav Havel and Natan Shcharanski.
