Thyroid gland cancer is discovered in Belarusian children 200 more often because of Chernobyl disaster. According to Radio Liberty, the head of the national governmental commission for radioactive security Yakau Königsberg informed about it. According to him, it is the only proved influence of Chernobyl disaster on peoples’ health. The number of other oncological diseases increased by a few percents.
Professor Königsberg reported that Belarusian scientists had to prove that Chernobyl disaster was the reason for the increase of thyroid cancer in children to Europeans.
At first EU experts though that Belarusian scientists had made some mistake while conducting investigations and diagnosing, however representatives of the EU agreed to the conclusions of Belarusian scientists later.
