Casino Shangri La: Marat Romashkin was our good customer
A business jet, carrying Marat Romashkin, the president of Russian company C-Air, and his bodyguard Pavel Malyshev, crashed yesterday evening near Minsk. Media reports suggest that Romashkin was en route to Minsk at the invitation of Shangri La casino in the Belarusian capital.
Shangri La spokesman Lautentsiy Hubin told the European Radio for Belarus that Marat Romashkin had asked to pick him at the airport and to book a hotel room.
"He was our special customer, indeed. We express our condolences to his family and relatives as well as to the relatives of all those killed in the crash. Marat had requested to meet him at the airport and to book accomodation. But we are not aware of his agenda while in Minsk".
Several media reported earlier that Shangri La had hired the ill-fated plane for Romashkin. But Hubin said: "It would be wierd if we had hired his own plane for him".
