Contract for construction of Belarusian NPP to be signed in 2010
An intergovernmental agreement with Russia concerning a state credit for the construction of an NPP in Belarus may be signed in the first quarter of 2010. Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s press service has informed “Interfax” about it. A special agreement will be signed in the fourth quarter of 2009 and an intergovernmental agreement with Russia concerning a state credit is planned to be signed in the first quarter of 2010. The state leader’s press service claims that the elaboration of this agreement has been finished. A contract on the construction of the Belarusian NPP is also supposed to be signed then.
Thus the construction of the nuclear reactor and service shops of the NPP may be started in the middle of 2011.
The Minister of Energy Alyaksadr Azyarets has claimed that it will be possible to make dramatic changes in the country’s consumption of fuel in 2010 and 2011. In particular, according to him, the consumption of gas will decrease by 55% by 2015 and local types of fuel and coal will be used more often.
