Court throws out oppositionists' lawsuit against Belarus TV

A court in Belarus on January 22 threw out a lawsuit filed Pavel Sevyarynets and Vital Rymasheuski, co-chairmen of the organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party against Belarus State TV and Radio Company and Channel 1's commentator Andrei Kryvasheyeu. “The judge failed to jusitify the decision, despite the fact that we watched every second of the footage and saw how many times my faces was on the screen when filth was voiced at the background of my image", Salidarncas newspaper quotes Pavel Sevyarynets as saying.

After preliminary hearings ended, the judge took a break. Afterwards, she immediately announced the verdict.

Kryvasheyeu was not attending the hearing, but the sides agreed to hear this case without him.
