Davydzka: My appointment was unexpected. They just called me and appointed!

The new head of the Belarusian State TV and Radio company Henadz Davydzka has told Euroradio what he plans to start his work at the new position with, what changes the collective can expect and whether he will hire his predecessor. – Could you tell us about your plans at the new working position?

– I think it's too early to speak about plans - I have just started to look into the business, and there are many many many things to deal with. Thus, I think that certain plans will form in my head no earlier than in a week. Not earlier, anyway. So, I will answer all your questions with pleasure in a week.

– As far as I understand, the head of the President's administration has set some solid tasks before you, so it would be interesting to know what you are going to start with? What will be your first steps?

– The first steps will be as follows: to talk to the employees, to find out the best things and the mistakes, to check the quality. What I need to do at the moment is to orientate myself. First - orientate myself. In order not to make mistakes in such complicated and important work.

– Tell us, how unexpected was this appointment to you?

– Absolutely unexpected. They just called me and appointed.

– Whom of the staff will you rely on - will you involve new people? Or rely on those who have worked here for a long time?

– The point is, there is a set collective in the Belarusian State TV and Radio Company, a very strong and professional collective. This concerns, in the first place, technical services. As for the creators... It is obvious it will be necessary to motivate them a bit, to urge and motivate them, I think. At the same time, we need to set interesting tasks, and then everything will be allright. As for the company's directive board - we'll sort everything out! What we need to do is just check who did what, who made mistakes and who didn't, and make conclusions.

– Do you intend to offer Aliaksandr Zimouski to be your deputy?

– No, I don't.
