The head of the standing commission of the House of Representatives of eth national Assembly of the Republic of Belarus responsible for national security – Victar Huminski- has informed ERB about it. Huminski: I do not have this information, so I cannot comment on this issue. You are the first person to inform me about it… We do not have this information.

Radio “Liberty” has informed that Andrei Zhuk and Vasil Yuzepchyk sentenced to death in 2009 have been executed.
Andrei Zhuk’s mother has informed a human rights organization “Amnesty International” that both prisoners were shot at the end of the last week. “Amnesty International” has urged Alyaksandr Lukashenka to impose a moratorium on capital punishment after the news about the execution.

Let us remind you that Vasil Yuzepchyk was sentenced to death for having killed six elderly women. The lawyer says Yuzepchyk was beaten to make him confess.

Andrei Zhuk was sentenced to death for an armed attack and murder of a man and a woman in February 2009. His lawyer was worried about procedure violations made during Andrei’s first interrogation. Both prisoners appealed their sentences but the appeals were not satisfied. Both of them made pleas for mercy. However, according to “Amnesty International”, the prisoners were informed about the state leader’s refusal a minute before the execution.
