Destroyed Kurapaty crosses to be restored on March 15

The leadership of the Conservative Christian Party of the Belarusian Popular Front has called on members of the public to take part in the restoration of dozens of crosses destroyed by vandals in Kurapaty, the site of mass executions during Stalin's rule in the outskirts of Minsk. The action will take place on March 15. 36 crosses were broken by vandals several days ago, reports Belapan.

According to Valery Buival, an activist with the party, "this recent act of vandalism can only be compared with the events in 2001 when the authorities made an attempt to destroy the Kurapaty memorial".
