Films of French director Éric Rohmer to be shown in Minsk
The retrospective of films directed by one of the founders of the French "new wave" Éric Rohmer will take place in the Minsk cinemas "Peramoha" and "Center-Video" from November 17 till December 31, informs BelaPAN.
The retrospective is organized with a support of the French Embassy in Belarus in the framework of the "Сinemascope" project which is aimed to show art films to Minskers.
Rohmer was also a literature teacher, a writer and a film critic. He continued the tradition of belles-lettres of the XVIII century in cinema. The director elaborated his own concept of "total cinema" where the word does not only perform the service function, but is as important as the image. He made his first film "The Sign of Leo" in 1959, and then he liked to divide his further creative activity into cycles: "Six Moral Tales", "Comedies and Proverbs", "Tales of the Four Seasons".
All the films are shown in French with Russian subtitles.
