Franak Vyachorka punished for speaking Belarusian in army

Franak Vyachorka has received the most severe army disciplinary punishment: his vacations have been reduced to 5 days for the whole period of his service. BelaPAN notes that the administration of regiment # 48694 the guy serves in took the decision on July 23.
According to Franak’s father Vinstuk Vyachorka, Franak was punished for speaking Belarusian – he used the command “Attention!” in Belarusian instead of Russian. He notes that it was the fist time a Belarusian soldier had been punished for speaking Belarusian in the army throughout the whole history of the independent Republic of Belarus.

Vinstuk Vyachorka is going to complain about the crime to the Office of the Public Prosecutor as it is allowed by article # 130 of the Criminal Code – deliberate actions aimed at rousing national and religious animosity committed by an official due to power abuse. He stressed that the article may lead to imprisonment from three to ten years.

Franak Vyachorka is a “political” draftee serving in regiment #48694 in Mazyr, Homel Region.
