Gazprom: 'Oil dispute' between Belarus and Russia will not affect gas supplies
Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller on Tuesday said that the 'oil dispute' would not affect natural gas supplies from Russia to Belarus.
"We have no problems. There is a contract, and we are working in accordance with this contract", the Russian news agency Ria-Novosti quotes Miller as saying.
Minsk and Moscow have failed to reach a deal on the supplies of crude oil to Belarus and on the transit of oil via Belarus to the Baltic states and Russia's Kaliningrad enclave. Despite the fact that a new deal has not been signed yet, Russia has continued to supply crude to oil refineries in Belarus. The transit of oil to the Kaliningrad region has continued as well.
Russia said earlier that if Belarus failed to sign a new deal, it would have to pay 100 percent of export duties from January 1, 2010. Minsk insists on customs duty preferences.
