Homel archaeologists find Slutsk belt that spent 200 years underground
Homel archaeologists have found remnants of a Slutsk belt during excavations in the village of Yuravichy in Kalinkavichy District. A belt from Constantinople is also supposed to have been put in the 19th century burial place.
A historian and archaeologist Yauhen Malikau informed ERB about it. According to him, Slutsk belts have never been found in Homel Region before so the discoveries are precious. They spent 200 years underground and restoration and conservation are required.
Malikau thinks that the belts are most likely to be sent to the National Historical Museum in Minsk.
