House of Representatives not going to ratify oil agreement
If deputies do not ratify the agreement of Russian oil supplies by February 15, Belarus will not be able to get duty-free oil. The agreement on duty-free oil supplies to the Belarusian home market may not come into power. A Russian newspaper “Kommersant” has informed about it today. The document should be ratified by February 15, however, the spring session of the Belarusian Parliament will start in April.
No special session is planned at the moment, informed the press service of the House of Representatives in an interview with ERB.
Press service: “There is no information about any special session”.
Deputies are also unaware of any special session. At the same time, the head of the oil and energy complex parliamentary commission Syarhei Syamashka thinks that the issue may be solved without any ratification:
Syamashka: “I think the government will deal with this issue. I think that if the ratification is needed, and if the government decides it is necessary, we have the order of organization of special sessions. But I think that they will probably solve the problem without it”.
Let us remind you that according to the agreement signed by the Prime Ministers of the two countries on January 27, Russia will supply 6.3 million tons of duty-free oil to Belarus for domestic use. According to some sources, our country asked for 20 million tons at the beginning.
