Hugo Chavez’s ex-wife struggles for daughter and position of Mayor

The ex-wife of the Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, Marisabel Rodriguez, is running for the position of the head of her home city of Barquisimeto. According to The Associated Press, she is running for the position of Mayor with the help of the opposition.  There is nothing strange about it because she became an irreconcilable opponent of her ex-husband’s policy after their divorce in 2004. M.Rodriguez told journalists that Venezuelan democracy had been replaced by principles of nepotism, inefficiency and instability. She is going to fight with it. It is worth mentioning that the relations between the ex- spouses are strained.   Hugo Chavez tried to deprive M.Rodgriguez of her right to bring up their 10-year-old daughter in May. However, Ms. Rodriguez challenged him in public and he had to withdraw his claim.
