Human rights activist: Existing list of agitation places violates candidates’ rights
The list of outdoor agitation places adopted in Belarus violates the rights of presidential contenders, namely the right to elect and to be elected in equal circumstances. A human rights activist Raman Kilsyak has informed BelaPAN about it. According to the human rights activist, Belarusian presidential contenders are allowed to organize outdoor meetings only in a few deserted “reservations”. This is an excessive limit imposed on the campaigning opportunities of presidential contenders, thinks Kislyak.
It is impossible to claim that the street agitation conditions are equal when one of the candidates can meet electors anywhere due to his occupation while the rest have to be satisfied with such reservations.
