Human rights activist Leanid Svetsik fined for 11 thousand dollars
A judge of Vitsebsk Region Court Halina Urbanovich has fined a human rights activist Leaned Svetsik for 31 million 500 thousand roubles (more than 11 thousand dollars). He will also have to compensate for the moral damage done to the head of Vitsebsk affiliate of the State Union of Writers Tamara Krasnova-Husachenka - 1 million roubles.
“Nasha Niva” reminds that Svetsik was accused of having sent letters containing threats addressed to Vitsebsk opposition members and signed by the RNU. The majority of victims claimed that they did not believe the human rights activist was guilty. The public prosecutor demanded to imprison Svetsik in a colony for two years.
