International Monetary Fund gives Ukraine 16.4 billion dollar credit

The International Monetary Fund will give Ukraine a 16.4 billion dollar credit. It approved a new programme of credit support of Ukraine yesterday. The programme will last for two years and the Ukrainian government will get a quarter of the sum in the near future.
The IMF notes that the main purpose of the credit is to help Kiev “restore financial and economic stability and strengthen credibility”. The credit was allocated after the Ukrainian government had adopted the anti-crisis package introduced by President Victor Yushchenko, notes UNIAN.

Let us remind you that the Belarusian government is also hoping to get a 2 billion dollar credit from the IMF.
