Investigation of Bankauskas' case will be continued in Lithuania

The commander of Vilnius mounted constabulary Laimanas Bankauskas has returned to his family and is resting after the Hrodna pre-trial detention center. The commander of Vilnius mounted constabulary Laimanas Bankauskas is now at home, as informed by his wife Tatiana, to the European Radio for Belarus.

Tatiana: “Laimanas is at home, he is one hundred per cent with me. Frankly speaking, the most important thing for me is that my husband is here with me. Everything else is on another level and that does not bother me”.

According to her words, further investigation of the case with the drugs allegedly transported to Belarus by her husband will be conducted in Lithuania. However, she said she understood that.

Tatiana: “Here everyone threw their weight behind him. But, on the other side - what if everything really was like that? Or something else. No, I would not admit even for a second that it was like that. But I understand everything perfectly - Lithiania is a serious State. It should clarify the situation. They should check everything and thank God they will do it! We should, as they say, push this case to the very end.  And then it will be the time for me and my husband to celebrate”.

Tatiana confessed that during Laimanas' imprisonment in the Belarusian pre-trial detention center she discussed with the lawyer the possibility to release him on bay. However, they demanded a sum that was impossible for the family of the Lithuanian policeman to pay. Tatiana did not specify whether the sum was demanded by the representatives of the Belarusian law-enforcement authorities or it was just the lawyer's opinion.
