Lithuanian deputies to complain to European Parliament about Belarusian NPP
The civil hearing concerning Astravetsk NPP in Vilnius on March 2 ended with a scandal. Lithuanian participants of the meeting were indignant at the low level of the organization of the event and the fact that the Belarusian delegation was not ready for the dialogue at all. The deputy head of the development commission of Vilnius City Council Rasa Navitskene has informed that participants of the hearing are preparing a special appeal for Lithuanian deputies urging them to give a negative account of the project of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Besides Vilnius, the document will also be sent to the European Parliament.
Rasa Navitskene: “We have already contacted European parliamentarians and they have promised to help with it. We will write a report about the yesterday’s meeting soon and the majority of participants of the hearing will sign it – then we will send the material to Brussels. It will be translated and sent to its destination so that it will reach it efficiently and as soon as possible”.
In particular, a deputy of the Lithuanian Seym Gintaras Sangailo has already supported the indignant ecologists.
