Lithuanian policeman to spend about two months in jail in Belarus

The term of detention of a Vilnius police officer Laimanas Bankauskas has been prolonged by two months. The decision was taken on August 19, reports DELFI.
As ERB informed earlier, the company commander of Vilnius mounted constabulary was detained in Belarus on suspicion of drug trafficking. Relatives refute the possibility that Bankauskas could transport drugs. Mass media expressed an opinion that the Lithuanian policeman was detained by Belarusian security agencies after an unsuccessful recruitment attempt. The fact that he was detained by customs officers and KGB members testifies to it.

According to the Lithuanian Ambassador to Belarus Edminas Bagdonas, the information about the prolongation of the term of detention by two months has not been officially confirmed yet.
