Lukashenka may be prohibited to enter European Union again

The European Union can resume the prohibition to enter the Union's countries for the President of Belarus Aliaksandr Lukashenka and a group of Belarusian state officials, who, to the EU's opinion, are responsible for the acts of violence and arrests with regard to Belarusian opposition activists, informed the Sweden's Foreign Minister Carl Bildt.  The presidential election in Belarus took place on December 19. Aliaksandr Lukashenka obtained a convincing victory. This disatisfied the opposition, which organized a non-sanctioned demonstration on that very day in Minsk and tried to storm the House of Government. The action was dispersed, hundreds of people, including the opposition leaders, were detained.

"We should stick to the logics of our previous policy. We (The Council of EU Foreign Ministers)  took positive measures last time, when there were no more political prisoners (in Belarus). Now, as we see much more prisoners, we will have to return those who took part in the actions (against the opposition) and those who cooperated with them into the list (the list of people who are not allowed to enter the EU)", - said Bildt to the internet-resource EUobserver.

Answering the question whether Lukashenka will be among the Belarusian officials who will be prohibited to enter the EU, the Sweden's Foreign Minister said that, to his opinion, "The Belarusian President is highly likely to have been involved into the actions which took place".
