Lukashenka talks about breakthrough in Belarus economy

A significant breakthrough in this country's economy is expected this year, Alexander Lukashenka said on January 7 when visiting the Orthodox Christmas mass at the St Spirit Cathedral in Minsk. “This year will be a complicated one, not because the oil and foodstuffs prices will grow. We have to make a huge step forward and create a solid foundation for our economy," the head of the state said.

According to Lukashenka, keeping the country stable will be another priority for Belarus in 2008, reports the Russian news agency Ria-Novosti.
