Meeting of Statkevich’s party to take place in Minsk on November 25
A meeting of the social-democratic party whose leader is a former political prisoner Mikola Statkevich will take place in Minsk on November 25.
Let us remind you that the party has not been able to register for several years. It is trying to legalize itself now. However, Statkevich is skeptical about it. That’s what he said in his interview with ERB:
“The thing is we doubt if we should send documents for registration. We already know that the documents and information about the 1000 party members will be used by KGB and we will not be allowed to register anyway like many other parties…
The main thing is to show the whole world and ourselves that there was, there is and there will be a Europe-oriented social democracy in Belarus”.
According to Statkevich, the party is likely to be called “Narodnaya Hramada”. However, the matter is still being discussed.
