Metropolitan Philaret asked Lukashenka to allow Barouski to stay under house arrest
Metropolitan Philaret asked Lukashenka to allow the former head of “Belnaftahim” Alyaksandr Barouski stay under house arrest.
It became known after letters from different people who took part in Barouski’s case were made public. The head of the Belarusian Orthodox Church wrote a letter to Alyaksandr Lukashenka referring to believers from Babruisk. It turned out that Alyaksandr Barouski had helped to restore an old cathedral in the town.
Metropolitan Philaret noted that, according to the information he had, Barouski “was feeling unwell”, so he asked Lukashenka to allow the former head of “Belnaftahim” to wait for “the clarification of circumstances of the case” in his flat instead of the KGB confinement cell.
However, the letter did not change anything alongside with some other letters, reports the "Komsomolskaya pravda v Belarusi" newspaper.
