Ministry of Healthcare does not allow ill boy to go to Germany
The Commission of the Ministry of Healthcare has not allowed a 13-year-old inhabitant of Homel Anton Dabraselski to be sent abroad. BelaPAN reminds that the boy was supposed to undergo heart transplantation in Germany.
The commission explained its refusal by the fact that transplantation organs and tissues were not objects of purchase and sale and that this kind of assistance was very complicated in Germany because the problem of getting donor organs existed in all countries of the world. The deputy Minister of Healthcare Robert Chasnoits informed about it.
According to the Law of Eurotransplant in Germany, transplantations of the heart and other organs have to be conducted on citizens of ET member states and Belarus is not one of them. In some cases transplantation can be performed for citizens of other countries if the German government allows it, claimed the deputy Minister.
Let us remind you that the teenager is suffering from an incurable disease - dilated cardiomyopathy. This disease results in a portion of the myocardium getting dilated which leads to the enlargement of the heart and death.
