Minsk family sentenced to long prison terms on treason charges

On June 10, the Minsk City Court sentenced members of a Minsk family — Tatsiana and Dzmitry Korsakou, as well as their daughter, Pelahiya.
Dzmitry and Tatsiana were sentenced to 14 and 12 years in prison respectively. They were also ordered to pay a fine of 50,000 Belarusian rubles (18.000 USD). Pelahiya was sentenced in absentia to 11 years in prison.
The Korsakous spouses were convicted of treason, illegal handling of firearms, and illegally transporting weapons across the border.
Pelahiya was found guilty of treason.
Human rights defenders say the circumstances of the case remain unknown.
