MPs approve more aid to parents of newborns

The House of Representatives today passed a legislation that sets out more state aid to parents of newborns. According to Uladzimir Patupcyk, Belarus Minister for Labor and Social Security, currently the one-off assistance to parents afte the birth of the first and the second children amounts to two minimum wages or Br 341,000. Parents receive Br511,000 for giving birth to the third and more children.

Under the new amendments passed, the state will increase aid at more than two times up tp Br852,000 after the birth of the first and second children and up to Br1,200,000 for the birth of the third amd more children.

Besides, the minister noted that the legislation also proposed to increase aid to mothers looking after their children aged up to 3 years old.

Currently, it makes 65 pecent of the minimum living wage, or Br 110,000. It has been proposed to increase this amount to 85 percent of the minimum living age, reports Interfax.
