New Cuban President to be appointed for the first time over the past fifty years

A new Cuban President will be appointed for the first time over the past fifty years today. More than 600 Cuban parliamentarians have gathered for it.
The election of a new President was caused by the fact that the 81-year-old Fidel Castro refused to stay for another term because of his illness. The main candidate for the post is Fidel Castro’s 76-year-old brother Raul. He has been the head Cuban government for 19 months since Fidel fell ill.
