New Life church parishioners decides to stay in their building

The parishioners of the New Life protestant church in Minsk have decided to stay in their building on Kovaliov street 72.  The Belapan news agency reminds that on March 16 the Minsk City Hall issued a written recommendation to discuss the construction of a new building near the beltway on a plot of 0.4 hectares -- four times smaller than the current one.

On May 5, the parish unanimously voted against the city authorities' proposal. The parishioners said they would need to spend up to two years and at least $100,000 for approvals and paperwork. $3-5 million will be needed additionally to build a new church.

The protestants propose to allow them to build a church on the plot that was previously approved by the authorities. They also want an additional plot to build a Bible college, a boarding school. a Christian rehabilitation center and other social facilities.
