Opposition youths apprehended in Vitsyebsk

Police officers prevented young opposition supporters from staging a demonstration in Vitsyebsk to mark the 23rd anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear accident.   Youths intended to march through the city center wearing Chernobyl anniversary T-shirt, but police officers dispersed the gathering, detained several participants and took them to a police station, Pavel Levinau, a human rights defender, told ERB.

In parallel, the city authorities staged a fair in the city center.
