Organizing committee set up to celebrate 600 years since victory in Grunewald
The national committee to organize celebrations of the 600th Grunewald victory has been set up in Minsk. The committee is chaired by PhD History Anatol Hrytskevich. His deputy is artist Mikola Kupava.
According to Hrytskevich, the July 15, 1410 battle near Grunewald is directly connected to the history of Belarus, because 28 out 40 units of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania's troops originated from the Belarusian lands.
He also called on the governmental structures of Belarus and official Belarusian historians "not to refuse from our heroic past" and to accept the proposal of Lithuania's ambassador in Minsk Edminas Bagdonas on a join celebration of 600 years since the victory in Grunewald, reports Belapan.
